How to Replace an audi replacement key cost uk G28 Engine Speed Sensor
Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is situated near the edges of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.
1. Engine Speed Sensor
The grey wire is situated at the edges of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. This sensor sends a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.
The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can activate spark and injectors according to the situation.
If this sensor fails the ECU will throw the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and could indicate chain stretch or replacement Audi a4 Key a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).
Testing is a bit tricky since there are two connector pins and they have different functions however the best method to test it is by measuring resistance between the sensor and the ECU. If the sensor is functional, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this component, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.
2. Injectors
Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll, i experienced massive power loss like the engine is out of gas or injectors are not firing anymore. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, three were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine, there are no sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays shut. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I'm assuming that the issue is elsewhere.
I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start if the G28 is disconnected and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in, but still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature of -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.
I'm not sure what to do. I feel like i've pretty much ruled everything else out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!
3. Fuel Pump
The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is identical to the G4 and they both work in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a junkyard or at a parts store. It is simple to test them - just switch your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector's edge facing upwards). They should be infinite Ohms.
4. ECU
The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing, etc. In order to do this it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either of these, the diagnostic scanner will show the codes that could trigger an engine shutdown.
A damaged G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate gearbox speed counter, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, or an unfire when in gear. It is likely that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you encounter any of these symptoms. They're inexpensive and easy to locate especially in the case of a Bosch sensor like ours. Alternately, GM's version this part would be a good option.
5. Tachometer
A faulty engine speed sensor could be the reason behind numerous issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of your replacement audi key cost's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is spinning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other car components to be affected.
The G5 engine speed sensor is located at the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear and transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU then processes this signal to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also transmitting it to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer. You can also check continuity between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and audi a3 key fob replacement between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. It should show around 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is a common part across the audi keyless entry 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best parts could be found in wrecking yards.
