Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. Toto has released original music and collaborated with other artists on soundtracks and films. The group has won a number of Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto, band members did sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in the year 1976 as a result of the collaboration.

Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group and the band held auditions for a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in the year 1986.

Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to mark the 20th anniversary of the band. The band dug through old recordings and tapes to create the album. The album was a hit by fans and the band went on a tour that featured former members Bobby Kimball, Steve Porcaro, and Joseph Williams.
